Bodyboarding is a boardsport in which the surfer rides a bodyboard. A bodyboard is used in a similar way to a surfboard but a bodyboard is smaller and instead of standing up you usually lie down on the board.  Advanced bodyboarders can be seen standing on one knee.

Bodyboarding was first invented in the 1970s by Tom Morey. He was looking for a way to surf when the waves were too small for traditional surfing. In those days they called it a Boggie Board after Morey's love of music.
