Kitesurfing is a boardsport on water that involves riding on a board while holding onto a kite that is attached to a harness around the rider’s waist. The kite is used to pull the rider across the water

The modern sport of kitesurfing originated around 1995. However, the concept of kitesurfing was first patented in October 1977 by Gijsbertus Adrianus Panhuise from Holland.

There are several styles of kitesurfing that have developed over time. Here are some of them:

- Freeride: involves sliding a board behind a kite on the water in a free direction.

- Wave surfing: is known as a kite-boarding style, in which the athlete not only jumps with the help of air power but also uses the wave as a springboard.

- Wakestyle: involves demonstrating jumps and tricks of varying degrees of complexity.

There are also different types of kitesurfing kites such as inflatable kites and foil kites.

Inflatable kites are the most common type of kitesurfing kite. They are made of a bladder that is inflated with air and then covered with a fabric skin. They are easy to launch and relaunch from the water and have good stability in the air.

Foil kites are made of lightweight fabric and have an open-cell structure that allows them to inflate when the wind fills them. They are more difficult to launch and relaunch from the water but have better performance in light winds.

There are many famous kitesurfing spots in the world. Here are some of them:

- Cabarete, Dominican Republic

- Cumbuco, Brazil

- Tarifa, Spain

- La Ventana, Mexico

- Maui, Hawaii

- Mancora, Peru

- Sumbawa, Indonesia
